I would say this product for sure works better with thinner, less weighty, and smaller plates. This had absolutely no issue hanging on to the plates I have (about 6 inches).I tried these on a bigger plate (that was also much thicker and much more heavy) and I did not feel confident hanging it up. The prongs wouldn’t grip around the plate comfortably. That being said, while it stretched out a significant amount to get around the plate, the springs held up and snapped back to its original size without staying stretched out. I don’t know if the springs would be stretched out if it was left for a long amount of time.I am not hanging these with the hooks that came with the product, purely based on other reviews saying they had issues, and I don’t want to risk it. However, the hooks provided are pretty damn clever, just need a hammer, so I’ll probably use them for less breakable objects- no money lost.The only real issue I have is the little grips that they come with. They are very hard to get on (at least for me). I don’t know if there’s an easier way to get them on, so that might be user error. They did come with extra, so that does make me wonder if they will end up falling off from being stretched out. With my small, thin plates, I wasn’t super concerned with actually having them on for the grip (they seemed to grip just fine without them), but I decided to put them on to protect from scratches.
